A Look Back At The 901PrepStars Camp
Saturday was a successful camp and it was thanks to the many people who helped. Former University of Arkansas player and national champion, Dwight Stewart provided valuable information in the light lecture during the camp as well as current Melrose junior and T0p 10 player in the country, Adonis Thomas. Stewart talked about the importance of being a good student and making sure that is extremely important in their future school choices and a little bit about playing in college and professionally as well. Thomas talked about being recruited at a high major level but also spoke of the importance of working on your game to become a better player. His 4.4 GPA speaks for his work in the classroom and he shared his knowledge about transitioning from Middle School to high school. Former Coach of the Hamilton High School Wildcats, Keelon Lawson who went 39-0 in 2006, spoke about requirements to play Division 1 basketball and about the importance of taking a few honors classes to boost chances of higher GPA. Remember, the higher the GPA, the lower the ACT but as he talked about, a lot of parents and young players don’t know this until its too late.Be on the look out for the Top 10 players overall from the camp, as well as the top point guards, top bigs, scorers and who could potentially be a really really good player in the making.
